The Bereavement Support Group

The bereavement support group

Support from others going through the same thing

During the year we run bereavement support groups for those who are grieving. Each group is facilitated by two counsellors and meets every week for six weeks. It provides a confidential, safe place where people can share experiences and feelings as they adjust to life without the person who is important to them.
Once the facilitated group has ended, it is not uncommon for members of the group to continue to stay in touch with each other.

How to be referred
If you, or the person you lost, received support from North Devon Hospice during their illness, you may be able to make a self-referral; please call the Supportive Care team for advice on 01271 347225.  Otherwise, please ask your GP to make a referral to North Devon Hospice. If you are already accessing support from us and are interested in attending the next bereavement support group, please speak to one of the team involved in your care.

Service location
The bereavement support groups are run from our main site at Deer Park, which is on the outskirts of Barnstaple.

Transport
For those who would find it difficult to travel to our main site at Deer Park in Barnstaple or The Long House in Holsworthy, our team of volunteer drivers are usually available to provide transport. All our services, including transport, are provided completely free of charge.
