When time is short, every cuddle matters
Let's raise £30,000 for a specialist Cuddle Bed - and more care at home - so everyone can be held when facing a life-limiting illness
Families in North Devon need your help - today. We need to raise £30,000, for a special Cuddle Bed at the hospice, so our patients can hold their loved ones close, when it matters most. We also want to fund more care in people’s homes across North Devon, so they can stay close to their family when facing a life-limiting illness. Donate today, to bring love and comfort to someone in your community.
It’s a specialist clinical bed, which has state-of-the-art features to help keep patients comfortable towards the end of life. Crucially, unlike any other clinical bed, a Cuddle Bed can extend to double the width. This allows loved ones to share a bed and retain that sense of normality, even when the rest of their world is shaken.
When symptoms are severe or the end of life is near, couples and family members deserve to lie-down together, cuddle, and sleep next to each other. It gives comfort, dignity and love, at a time when it matters most.
The Cuddle Appeal also aims to fund more care at home - to help patients remain in the place they love, with the people they love. Hospice care at home brings comfort and reassurance, as our teams can visit round-the-clock to support the whole family.
Fuding more of this care means we can keep more families together, so they can make precious memories and enjoy more cuddles in the place they feel most comfortable.
"I'd give anything to have been cuddled up in bed with mum in those final days, as opposed to sat in a chair next to her" - Siobhan Tindall, Winkleigh
