A charity skydive is the ultimate thrill you'll never forget!
A skydive is up there with one of the most exhilarating experiences you can try. Maybe you have a big birthday coming up or you've always wanted to jump out of a plane but never had the chance - this is your sign to book a charity skydive in aid of North Devon Hospice!
Once in a lifetime feeling
Imagine the exhilarating feeling of jumping out of a plane and free-falling at around 120mph, opening the parachute and gliding back down to land taking in the view around you. Skydiving is the best way to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Doing this with North Devon Hospice means that we can continue caring for local people at the end of their lives and support their families.
Conquer a fear or celebrate a big birthday
The aircraft will "run in" over the airfield at around 15,000ft when the door will open. You will move to the door securely attached to your highly qualified instructor and jump into the air! After free-falling to 5,000 ft, your instructor will open the parachute and you can help them (if you wish) steer the parachute down to a gentle landing on the "dropzone".
Jump for free
When booking your jump through SkyDive Buzz, you can choose to take part in the 'jump for free' scheme by raising a minimum of £395 sponsorship. We will then pay the fee for the skydive from the money raised, leaving the remaining money for the Hospice. Anything you raise beyond £395 will also go straight to the hospice and the incredible nurses and supportive care workers who keep supporting and caring for local families.
If you'd rather cover the cost of the jump yourself so every pound raised goes directly to supporting the Hospice, that's okay too!

FAQs
Tandem parachuting offers a quick and easy introduction to free fall using a dual harness system. You are securely attached to an experienced tandem instructor who takes charge of vital functions such as opening the parachute and landing safely. Your preparation for the jump takes only 30 minutes. Free from responsibility, you can relax and enjoy the skydive knowing there is a qualified instructor in charge. The tandem jumps are up to 15,000 ft; this is almost a mile higher than most other parachute centres. After the exhilarating 10,000 ft free fall you will be enjoying a relaxing parachute ride over the beautiful landscape the southwest has to offer.
Yes. However, there is no such thing as a completely risk free parachute jump. The risk may be fairly low for some types of jump but there is always some risk. In a tandem jump, the novice is strapped to an experienced instructor. They share a modern, extra-large, 'square' parachute. After a free fall of several thousand feet, the instructor opens the parachute. The instructor deals with any emergencies. The dual control parachute lets the novice practise canopy control and the instructor controls the landing. The injury rate for tandem jumps is very low.
Do I have to have any training before I jump?
Yes. You receive a short briefing and watch a DVD, taking you through an example skydive and landing. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions then, and during the day.
Yes. The minimum age is 16 years and there is no upper age limit (we've had a man become the UK's oldest skydiver by taking on a parachute jump for his 100th birthday!). If you are aged between 16 and 18 you must obtain a parent or guardian's consent and signature.
Yes. The standard upper weight limit is 15 stone/95 kgs fully clothed. If you are between 15 to 18 stone please contact SkyDive Buzz; your jump can still go ahead at an alternative site.
