Every single one of our volunteers helps us provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We really value the time all our volunteers give to us and you will be making a real difference to our patients and their families at their most vulnerable time.
Would you like to help support the hospice by giving just 4 hours a week and becoming a Book Scanner in our busy warehouse team?
This role involves so much more than just scanning books! You will be part of a team that can help identify current, ever-changing book trends, finding the right route for each item to ensure that we maximise our revenue and seeking out those gems that could be hiding in a pile of books!
In our warehouse our dedicated team receive a large number of books daily and it is a team effort to process the generous donations that we receive. It can be a fast-paced environment involving some lifting, twisting within the role. We pride ourselves on only offering for sale items that are of a high quality that will either be on display in our shops, sold via our eCommerce department or Shopiago. This takes a lot of effort, attention to detail and a passion for treasure hunting!

The role may involve undertaking other tasks that may be requested or appropriate within the nature of the role and full training will be given for every aspect of the role.
An informal interview and taster session will be arranged to ensure you fully understand what the role entails, ensuring you feel safe in the environment, and it will give us an opportunity to get to know you a little and you the chance to ask us any questions you may have.
